December 10 - While exploring around in Yosemite Valley, this guy decided to approach and see what we had to offer....nothing! He kept a reasonable distance as he stood in the nearly frozen meadow.

Earlier this year, a controlled burn took this grassy area down to nothing...the last time we were through here, the ground was still smoldering...the fresh shoots of grass had started to sprout before the frost took over last week.

Across the meadow, the grass is higher and still teaming with rodents. We watched another coyote hunt, catch, and gobble down a field mouse about an hour after this shot was taken...unfortunately, I did not get a usable shot of the action...next time :))
