September 30 - Yosemite Bears!!! - My son and I went to Yosemite today in hunt of the elusive bears that we have heard about for years. Once, a few years ago, we saw a bear from a long distance. Well, today our wish was answered!
Within an hour of parking in the valley (Curry Village), we had our encounter. We spotted and then followed these two for about 45 minutes as they ate, browsed, and played. After they had their fill of grubs, they went to a thicket and laid down.
Aaron and I went to the village and had lunch and then returned to the same area where we had left the the two earlier. We were lucky enough to find them again as they browsed and crossed a river.
Sun and shade were harsh and the distance was significant (for safety). So of the 175 shots I took, Only a handful were acceptable, and of those, only a few were approaching good. I did learn one thing...ALWAYS USE A TRIPOD. All of my hand held shots failed to make the grade.
