goldenmoon > On the First Day, after check in, we walked the beach at Waikiki...along the walk were several man made features that added a beautiful setting to the street scene...this is one of them.
goldenmoon > As you can see, the pools ae heavily used...the building in the center of the background is out Hotel...pretty neat!!
goldenmoon > Further down the beach, we walked out on a sand bar where these rock walls hold back the surf...this creates some great pools for the kids to play in, nearly eliminating the fear of you or your small child being sucked out by the current...which can be quite strong!
goldenmoon > The day we arrived, we were brought to our hotel, the 'ResortQuest at Waikiki Beach'.

On the initial drive in the shuttle from the airport to Waikiki, we did not see the tropical paradise we had expected...we saw an urban environment, complete with run down buildings covered in grafiti and porn shops...not at all what we were expecting.

As we got closer to Waikiki, the surroundings began to change...things were looking nicer and more like the pictures we had seen in the movies and on the internet. When the shuttle stopped directly across the street from the beach and the driver announced that we were at our hotel, Kristie and I were both shocked and relieved. It was awesome!

This shot is the view from our room...not too bad considering we did not pay for the 'ocean view'
goldenmoon > Kristie facing Chinama's hat at Kualoa park...the sky was really awesome that day
goldenmoon > I am standing here near the same spot Kristie was standing...beautiful, eh?
